Although everyone wants whiter teeth, lots of people are loathe to go to the dentist. Until not  long ago, the only way to get your teeth whitened was to visit the dentist. It was a lot of hassle and many an appointment was missed, and the teeth whitening sessions happened sometime down the road, if they ever happened at all. In fact, professional teeth whitening does not require drills and other instruments of pain, but then a lot of patients are skittish of the entire whitening procedure. Home remedies are an alternative.

After many years of this going and not going to the dentist, the teeth whitening manufacturers began to realize they had a huge potential market just laying in wait for them, and  they began creation of products that could take the place of the dentist and compete against the traditional home remedies for teeth whitening. Not only did these substitute home remedies remove the fear of the dentist’s chair, but it meant that you could schedule your  teeth whitening sessions at your leisure. Home remedies themselves are also a great deal less dear than a visit to the dentist’s. The fact is that the principal cost of professional teeth whitening is the dentist’s time.

If you go down the home remedies’ route, there are two ways you might choose. There are the manufacturers who make bleaching products, and there are the original home remedies, which were used many in the times before the chemical whiteners in bottles and tubes became available.

The traditional  methods do work and also use less ‘chemicals’ than shop-bought. The only possible drawback with home remedies is that they are less powerful, so they have to be put on more frequently and on a repetitive basis, say weekly or semi-weekly. Here are a few traditional home remedies for teeth whitening you can experiment with:

Bicarbonate of Soda and Water: Bicarbonate of soda can be bought in practically all food shops. Mix some bicarb with a half a glass of water and gargle with it moving the liquid in and about with your teeth as much and for as long as possible. This should remove a lot of the staining, leaving your teeth cleaner and whiter.

Lemon Juice and Salt: this amalgam should be brushed onto the teeth and left to soak a while. Following this procedure for several minutes, two times a week will lift yellow staining from your teeth, but it is not a quick fix, you have to keep at it, just as with all home remedies.

Bay Leaves And Dried Orange Peel: Blend the two ingredients and brush them onto your teeth. If you feel it is too dry, you might mix the mixture in with your regular tooth paste and leave  it in place for a minute or two.

Orange Peel Pith: remove the pith from the center of an orange and brush it on your teeth, it will lift dark stains and more with regular use.

The bottom line with all home remedies for teeth whitening is that they take effect over time. They do not work over night, because they do not include harsh abrasives and chemicals, which can only be a plus. Just be consistent and take your time.

Apart from these home remedies for teeth whitening animal chemical free, they are also very cheap, if not free. Consequently, you can try them and if they do not work quickly adequate for you, you have lost nothing, but a few time. These home remedies for teeth whitening do not have any side effects, unlike shop bought products.
