Gastritis: Cure, Prevention And Diet
Gastritis is a health condition involving the inflammation of the stomach lining or the gastrointestinal tract. The inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract is commonly caused by the bacterium that also causes stomach ulcers known as the Helicobacter pylori thus the Helicobacter pylori gastritis. However, gastritis can also be caused by other factors like drinking too much alcohol, injuries, and use of certain medications such as pain relievers.
There are two types of gastritis based on its occurrence. An acute gastritis occurs when the condition suddenly occurs while chronic gastritis occurs and develops slowly overtime. Most people just ignore gastritis especially if the condition is mild since it can be cured through proper medication and treatment. However, in some cases, gastritis can become really serious leading to ulcers. Gastritis can also increase the risk of a person from getting stomach cancer.
Gastritis Cure And Prevention
As much as possible, it would be better to avoid gastritis since having gastritis can be really difficult especially when it comes to restricted diet. When a person has gastritis, a lot of foods should be avoided in order to prevent the condition from getting worse. A strict gastritis diet is usually implemented by doctors when a person is undergoing treatment for his or her gastritis.
Foods may have different effects to various people so it is important for a person with gastritis to be able to determine which foods trigger the symptoms of gastritis. Some of the most common foods that usually trigger symptoms of gastritis are usually those containing alcohol, acidic foods, spicy foods, and foods with high fat-content. For an effective gastritis cure, it is important to follow a gastritis diet to prevent the condition from developing into ulcer and other serious illnesses in the stomach.
Foods To Limit Or Avoid
If you think you have gastritis, it is important to consult a doctor first before taking any medication to ensure that you are just suffering from inflamed gastritis and not other serious conditions. If you think you are highly at risk from getting gastritis, then it is necessary to avoid certain foods that will trigger the symptoms. Here is a list of foods one should avoid or limit:
• Hot chillies and peppers
• Onions and garlic
• Meats with high fat content like bacon, cold cuts, hams, and sausages
• Spicy and strong flavoured cheese
• Dairy foods produced from whole milk and cream
• All types of tomato products like its juice, sauce, and paste
Strong seasonings and spices are definitely not good for a person preventing gastritis so avoid too much seasoning on your foods like garlic powder, all types of peppers, and chilli powders. You should also avoid drinking too much alcohol, coffee, whole milk, and event teas.
